HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop 690-0013nl

Hello,

My PC got stuck during a BIOS update (after launching the BIOS update nothing came up on the screen) and now it beeps 8 time when trying to power up.

I have tried the BIOS recovery procedure multiple times (windows key + B) without luck.

As far as I understand, the only way to save the pc is replacing the mother board with another Sunflower 8433, since the form factor is not standard.

Is the mother board available as a replacement part?

Thank you

Hi

Your PC's BIOS is corrupted. Many users having a 690 series PC are having this problem which ranges from system instability to a corrupted BIOS.

Try all steps at this site https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04126730

Don't see an 8 beep BIOS error code at this site. https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_1997210-1528385-16

HP does describe a 3:5 error and a 5:3 error.

Check the following site for the scope of this issue. You can't use the fix at this site because your PC is non-responsive.

It is possible to find a local PC tech who should be able to reprogram the BIOS using a Serial ISP Programmer or similar device. The BIOS would have to be soldered to the MB. Check the following video for details.

HP does not sell this MB at this time. You would have to check eBay or similar sites for a used replacement MB.

Thank you for your feedback!

I don't have any previous experience with this kind of problem.
Is BIOS programming via ISP a standard procedure? Any tech repair shop should be able to do it?
I guess the ROM chip mounted on the mother board is not custom and hopefully it is not locked in any way.

Hi @Luuuucaaaa

My pleasure.

Most PC techs should be able to reprogram the BIOS using a Serial ISP Programmer when the PC can't POST.

I have never looked at your MB. I don't know how the BIOS chip is connected. This chip would have to be soldered to the board or the MB needs an adjacent programmable header close to the BIOS chip.
