HP Pavilion Desktop TG01-2460 PC
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi, I'm looking for a bit of help on the HP Pavilion Desktop TG01-2460 PC. It fits my budget range and I think it is a good option for gaming and a bit of home office work. I like its size, don't mind the design as much, might upgrade the case in the future. Also, the features, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, AMD Ryzen 7 5700G processor and RTX 2060 graphics card are a great combination.

I've read that Nvidia RTX 2060 graphics card, a powerful mid-range GPU that opens the door for Ray Tracing and 1080p gaming which sounds good.

My question is will this powerful processor and GPU need more than the stock air fans or cooling. Is this PC prone to heating? has anyone used it here? There is a single positive product review and a bunch of short amazon reviews too online. However, I need to be clear about this before I pull the trigger.

Also, what power supply will fit inside the case should I need to upgrade?

Thanks

hi

"Also, what power supply will fit inside the case should I need to upgrade?"

nothing to say for the computer itself, even because it has not been tested
but in terms of power, you are very limited, it is only possible to have a few possibilities, so if one day you need a power of 700w, for example, it will probably not be possible

@Droid88,

Your HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop TG01-2460 PC (https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c07946918) was designed to run the 65 watt processor Ryzen 7 5700G and the RTX 2060 graphics card you have without additional cooling interventions.

As a matter of fact, plenty of Users (see: https://www.userbenchmark.com/System/HP-Pavilion-Gaming-Desktop-TG01-2xxx/236052) are running their TG01-2xxx (Erica6 MOBO) with an RTX 3060-Ti GPU.

However, as @Prométhée mentioned, the original 400 watt power supply  (HP L69242-800) is woefully under powered to run anything more powerful than an RTX 2060.  There is a compatible 500 watt PSU available (L05757-800) for your PC -that is, IF you can get/find one.

There are alternative power options available [DISCLAIMER: NOT endorsed by HP!] -if you are reasonably computer savvy.

Check out my upgrade link how I solved my power problem for an HP EliteDesk 800 G3 SFF starting at page 4: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Business-PCs-Workstations-and-Point-of-Sale-Systems/Upgrading-HP-Elite....

Hope this helps.

I did not answer the question exactly, because I did not test this type of computer..
But I wouldn't say that either, just read the countless messages here, from users who have overheating problems.

Indeed, but here I just indicated the reference link, if necessary, for later, I do not recommend modifying the computer if under warranty, hp could, refuse support in case of problems

But what I advise more exactly, if you want a computer, ready to use, see the different comments, and if that's okay, buy it!
but if you think you have to modify it, then, move on, it will be cheaper for you, to find a computer, configurable ..
There are many specialized sites, and you will be able to upgrade it more easily, whether it is power supply, gpu motherboard, etc., without having to use workaround tricks @Droid88
