I have a PC that has been making a loud noise. I'm not sure what it is. We seem to get by blowing the dust-out. My warranty has expired but I'd like to get a new fan for it. How do I go about doing this then?

Hi @J22K02,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Pavilion Gaming - TG01-1160xt CTO desktop might have a faulty or worn-out fan. Here are steps to diagnose and replace it if needed:

Step 1: Identify the Noisy Fan

  1. Power on the PC and listen closely to identify which fan is making the noise. Desktop PCs often have multiple fans (e.g., CPU, GPU, power supply, and case fans).
  2. Check the air vents on the case to ensure they aren’t blocked with dust, which could cause overheating and loud fan noise.

Step 2: Check for Dust and Clean the Fan

  1. Shut down and unplug your PC.
  2. Open the side panel to access the internal components. Carefully use a can of compressed air to clean any dust buildup around the fans and vents.
  3. Power it on again to see if the cleaning has helped reduce noise.

Step 3: Replace the Fan (if necessary)

  1. Identify the fan type (CPU, GPU, case) that needs replacement.
  2. Order a compatible replacement fan. Make sure to get the correct size and connector type (e.g., 3-pin or 4-pin).
  3. Carefully disconnect the old fan, remove it, and install the new fan by following HP’s service manual for your model or general replacement guidelines.

Refer to this document:  HP Pavilion Gaming - TG01-1160xt CTO  User manual

HP Desktop PCs - Fan is noisy and spins constantly (Windows 11, Windows 10)
HP Desktop PCs - Reduce heat inside the computer to prevent overheating

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
