Hp Compaq Pro 6300 MT

Hello, I recently received an HP Pro 6300 MT. I want to upgrade the computer in different ways, and I'm starting with the RAM.  I have ram from a dell OptiPlex 780 SFF and I wanted to use that along with the 4GB the HP came with. Is it ok to mix ram?

Yes, that memory is too slow for your PC.

It may not even work.

Hi:

If the memory that came from your Dell Optiplex 780 is DDR3/DDR3L-1600, it will probably work fine.

If your 6300 Pro only has 1 x 4 GB of memory installed, install the 4 GB chip in the 3rd slot from the original memory.

4 GB, empty, 4 GB, empty.

Hello,

How would I know that my ram is that exact(DDR3, 3L- 1600)?

HP Recommended

It should say it on the label.

Or google the Dell part number off the label and you should be able to find out what type it is.

DDR3-10600 will also work but if your 6300 Pro PC has DDR3-12800 memory, the DDR3-10600 memory will slow the whole works down from 1600 MHz to 1333 Mhz.

I have 2 Ram stcks from the optiplex that are 2 gb, so how would I insert all of them?

HP Recommended

You would install them as follows...

4 GB, 2 GB, blank, 2 GB

No.

Put the the 2 GB you have in the white slot, in the other black slot.
