Hi - a friend of mine has an HP Prodesk 400 G3 SFF business PC product code T4R70ET#ABU which he has owned since new and uses for his business.   It has a Samsung 128G SSD as standard but that is nearly full and he wants a bigger SSD fitted.  So I was planning on upgrading it to a Samsung 870 EVO of either 500G or 1T for him, to tide him over until he's ready to change  the machine.

I wasn't sure how to physically get to the SSD at the time I first looked at the machine (I know now!) so I just went into device manager and took a note of what it said - which I have to say was slightly confusing because I was expecting it to be described as an SATA SSD from what I knew about the machine.  Instead, it was described as follows:

MZ7LN128HCHP-000 SCSI Disk Drive

With this being a machine designed for business as opposed to home users, I just wanted to check what the situation is before I go out and buy the disk for him.

Thanks!

Hi:

It's a standard 2.5" SATA SSD.

Probably this one according to the parts list:

HP PartSurfer

816722-001    128GB SATA 6.0 Solid State Drive (SSD) - With three-dimensional Vertical NAND Flash memory (3D V-NAND) technology

MZ7LN128HCHP-CP Fujitsu Solid State Drive

Sometimes the drives get labeled that way for some reason.

Thanks Paul - this is what I was seeing in the disk drive properties just for completeness.  It seems the Samsung 128G is HP part number 801645-001.

You're very welcome.

It's just the nomenclature.

A true SCSI drive has a much different connector than a SATA drive as you can see in the pictures below.

The 400 G3 PC has a standard SATA III SSD.
