Microsoft Windows 11

Hi,

My laptop is HP VICTUS, I have plugged in my charger, the indication light is glowing, but the laptop is not getting charged the battery percentage is decreasing as its not getting charged, the adaptor is not getting warm as well, I have checked in a different socket in another room, but the same issue is coming. I have tried to contact HP support helpline no. several times but no response from their side totally frustrated not imagined that HP support is so poor in customer care.

HP is only focused on selling their products but no care for their customer, too pathetic.

@roy194, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP Victus laptop is showing a charging light, but the battery isn’t charging and the percentage is dropping. Let’s walk through some steps to help resolve this issue.

Perform a Hard Reset

Sometimes residual power can cause charging issues.

  • Power off the laptop.
  • Unplug the charger.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Plug the charger back in and power on the laptop.

Check Battery and Adapter Status in BIOS

This helps verify if the hardware is being detected correctly.

  • Shut down the laptop.
  • Power it on and immediately press Esc repeatedly, then F2 to enter HP Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI).
  • Go to Component Tests > Power > Battery Test.
  • Run the test and note the results.

Inspect the Charger and Port

  • Ensure the charger is HP-branded and compatible with your model.
  • Check for physical damage to the charging cable or port.
  • Try a different HP charger if available.

Update BIOS and Drivers

Outdated firmware can cause charging issues.

  • Visit the HP Support Page
  • Enter your HP Victus model number.
  • Download and install the latest BIOS, chipset, and power management drivers.

Battery Driver Reset

  • Open Device Manager (Right-click Start > Device Manager).
  • Expand Batteries.
  • Right-click Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery and choose Uninstall device.
  • Restart your laptop. Windows will reinstall the driver automatically.

HP Support Assistant Battery Check

If none of the above steps resolve the issue, the problem may be with the charging circuit, battery, or adapter. In that case, please visit the nearest HP authorized service center, the service team will check and assist you.
Kindly follow this link to locate the nearest HP service center: HP® Service Center Locator - India | HP® Support
(Select the country from the dropdown menu and enter the city name or pincode)

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
