Hi there - I have purchased a Crucial BX500 ssd for my HP z620. I intend to use it as my primary storage and to install Windows 10 on it. I have plugged it into hd port 0 that I believe is connected to SATA 6Gb/s (in fact, I have tried all 3 ports available!). I have also tried setting the storage mode in BIOS from RAID + AHCI to just AHCI. In addition, I have also upgraded my BIOS to the latest version (as of 3/5/2023). However, when I tried to boot up the machine using Windows USB boot disk, the Windows installation is still unable to detect my ssd when it asks me which drive I would like to install windows in.
Note that previously, I was able to connect a regular hdd in port 2 and installed windows on it, so at least that ruled out port 2 as defective I think.
Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

Sooooo get a load of this...I unplugged my ssd from my 2.5 to 3.5 hdd bay adapter and plugged it directly into the SATA port...and voila! working! I guess the connection of my adapter is bad.
Appreciate your help again, Paul!

Hi:
RAID + AHCI is the default drive controller setting.
I'm thinking you may have to install the applicable storage controller driver when you are at the screen where Windows can't find any drives to install on.
I have zipped up and attached the IRSTe driver that I believe you need, below.
When you select the 'Load driver' option and browse to the driver folder with the drivers, if you check the box, it will only include the compatible driver. Click Next and hopefully, Windows will find the drive and install.

Thanks Paul! I tried your suggestion. Two driver came up as compatible. I installed the first one successfully but my ssd is still not showing up afterwards. I tried installing the second one but it would fail with the new blue screen of death after a long pause. 😞
Are there other versions of this driver?

You're very welcome.
That is the only W10 version of the driver on your PC's support page, under the storage section.

Unfortunately, I don't know what the problem could be if the storage controller driver didn't get the drive to show up.
