Hi, as a follow up on a closed thread, I've posted here again.
I've bought a HP Z620 workstation at a local thrift store but it came without any hard drives.
It did have a motherboard with chip and a LSI controller card so it seems, it probably came out of a
business place where it was used as a working unit.
My intention is to use it as my home desktop computer and in the meantime I have acquired a SSD intended for main drive
or boot drive.
But I am not sure if it is an advantage to keep this LSI controller in place or that it has an opposite effect of slowing things down as I see already when starting up that there are 2 BIOS screens, first is the LSI and next American Megatrends.
My main goal is to use it as a home desktop but also to store things as music files, movie files and other. I have 4 HDD's to do so and if possible I want to hook it up later on to my amplifier so I can stream some music off of the HDD's onto my stereo.
Windows 10 has to be bought and installed. I am currently only running it with a hijacked HDD from an old pc that I had lying around that has W10 on it but doesn't run on this system of course not being in its proper setup. But just to see how the system behaves.
At OS load, windows says it was not properly shut down or installed and needs to be re-installed 🙂
Who has any knowledge on this setup and how to proceed at best
Thanks
Dan
