From what I have seen online this device can be installed on any computer.  In the original computer they were not using a raid 0 because it has only one M.2 SSD installed.  The other slot is empty.

 

Is there away to configure the dual M.2 controller to use both slots without the original computer?

I do not understand well, you are using the motherboard in another case, if so, it does not affect if you are in RAID or not using another case the important thing is the BIOS of the motherboard.

We do not have the HP Z8 G4 workstation anymore. From what I can tell they never used  the SSD adapter, that means they never used the device and they never configured it.

 

I have taken the dual SSD adapter out and I would like to use the dual SSD adapter in an aftermarket motherboard.  Since they never configured it nor used the adapter the second SSD slot is not enabled. How can I enabled that slot without the original computer?
