HP Vectra VL2 4/66

Hi

Anyone help me ?

I cannot access the driver because it does not look for the serial number in the database, beacuse this is an old stuff

My computer is HP VL2 4/66, system number D3043A. I;m looking for a music card driver with SCSI adapter for CD-ROM.

Probably name HP SOUND DSP 16 SCSI-1

Thanks

hi

The computer is no longer referenced in HP support for a long time
try this to start:

Find your drivers. Analyze your PC and your blue screens.

no guarantees, can't tell you it will be risk free, but you can look here too

of course, if you installed a much newer system, your chances are very slim

systems of this age, (486 DX2 66MHZ)  usually had a addin sound card and you can  easily check by opening the cover, and then look for a card that has audio out/in on the back of the card

HP used creative sound blaster 16 cards in these systems and if you have on the card will have CT-xxxxx on it

Mainly I'm thinking of cd rom driver " I;m looking for a music card driver with SCSI adapter for CD-ROM."

beacuce BIOS doesn't see it. I'm wondering if isntalling windows 3.11 will solve the problem .

This is the picture of this. On the right side is SCSI socket for CD ROM cable20220327_093243.png

the sound card is a Philips  analog snd chip based one using a adaptec SCSI cdrom port

the long chip at the edge of the card bracket with pins only on one side is the main audio amp chip

i would replace this card with a creative snd card that has normal SATA/IDE port for the cdrom

I mentioned above, the probable change, of the operating system..
So what exactly do you have installed on this computer?
If something is not recognized by the bios, your problem may be other than a simple driver
be more specific!
have you tried the above...

1. Is installed DOS 6.22

2. in these links I did not find anything that would look like a DOS driver. I am not experienced in retro software and I stumble in the dark

the cost of the adaptec EZSCSI software and a working 2x scsi rom is going to far exceed the cost of a cheap ISA based creative or CMI based sound card and a IDE based cdrom

buy a ISA sound card that lacks the cdrom interface (much cheaper to buy) and then buy a IDE cdrom and connect it to one of the motherboards two IDE ports, note also that each motherboard IDE port can support two IDE devices as a master/slave
