Envy Desktop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP Envy desktop which I bought in 2014 is randomly freezing. It must be manually shut down every time this happens. I ran the HP PC hardware diagnostics and identified a hard drive issue. Should I replace the hard drive on a machine this old or go ahead and just get a whole new machine? I'm afraid other parts will start going out at some point in the near future. Thanks for your help.

Replacing a hard drive, as long as it is SATA is relatively easy and inexpensive.  The drive can be a 1TB for less than $100.00 US.

Since it has Windows 10 that is easy to install also.

If you need the install media for Windows 10, you can make it from this Microsoft download

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

With a working PC, scroll down to the "Using the tool to create installation media"
and then follow the directions. You can make either the DVD or USB.
When the install asks for the product key, click the I don't have a product key option to continue,
then the install will continue It will be activated once it connects to the internet, as it uses a digital key.

I'm not an HP employee.
