HP ENVY Desktop - TE01-1175xt
Microsoft Windows 11

I have a 500 GB PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 SSD and need to upgrade it to at least 1 TB.

Looking for advice on the best drive to use and best method to transfer data from old to new drive. Some one tolf me to use an external enclosure to hold the new drive and copy my old drive to it. Once copied I can put the new one in the desktop and use the enclosure and old drive as a back up.

Hi

I would just advise you not to use a first price
but reputable brands, in general, they are equivalent
check the price, and the warranty period
You also have comparisons, they are normally based on tests, so generally quite reliable
Indeed, for an m2 SSD, to be able to make a clone, the simplest if you want, is the USB adapter
once connected, you just have to create the copy
with specialized software such as Crucial, Macrium
