Opened my laptop one day while in class and the hinge had broken. The screen was completely unattached from the right side of the base. The screen had also cracked from the bottom right side. I genuinely thought it may have been something I did, but I always take care of my things, especially expensive ones. Didn't use it for a while then my sister with the EXACT same laptop, had the exact same problem (except it was her left hinge; screen not cracked, my right hinge; screen cracked). Both laptops work just fine but are always an inconvenience to use (having to use only on desks and leaving laptop open at all times.)
I have now come to find out that it is not just OUR issue but many others have faced the same problem only AFTER the warranty has expired. I need to get in contact with HP.

@mistyshuk, Thank you for getting back to us, and I completely understand your frustration — it's never easy dealing with unexpected hardware issues, especially when the device plays such an important role in your daily life.
I truly appreciate you taking good care of your device and sharing your experience. It's clear this has been inconvenient, and I hear your concerns about the hinge issue occurring outside of warranty.
While we’d love to help more, repairs or part replacements for devices that are no longer under warranty aren’t covered by HP. I know this isn’t the answer you were hoping for, but our hands are tied when it comes to warranty policies.
That said, our HP Authorized Service Centers can still assist with a full evaluation and provide options for repair at a reasonable cost. They’ll make sure everything is handled with care and precision.
