HP Pavilion 24-a200 All-in-One Desktop PC Series
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I want to upgrade the memory in the All-in-1. I can get the stand off (4 allen bolts) but when I try to remove the philips screws which keep the back on I am unable to loosen them. I found a youtube video for a different model which talks about those screws not being removable, but that they can be loosened around 1/4 turn. I tried this but I am still unable to loosen the back. Is there a knack? Anyone ever done this? Pointers appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi,

Take a look at these HP videos for that model (click on rear cover in list on left). They are captured screws and they need to be turned 1/4 turn (even with some force) A quarter turn is not a lot, so make sure you have not already freed the screws.

Hope it helps,

David

Thanks for the link. I've already gone through that route - basically the instructions seem to be incomplete. The screws will not move without significant effort, which I didn't want to do without checking as there is a good chance it will result in something breaking.

I just wanted to see whether anyone had experience of doing this and could confirm that I needed to apply much effort to move the screws, and whether they can be fully removed.

Appreciate your input.

thanks

My experience is the screws are captive. (Not removeable).

Ah, so if they are not removable do I need to apply significant effort to get the case open? They don't seem to want to move at all! I don't want to force them and risk breaking anything, but I really need to get my DIMM installed.

Thanks for the information. Any pointers as to how I get them to move?
