1. Close Desktop Extension
HP Desktop Extension is a background service that helps with multi-monitor setups and display enhancements. You can disable it if it's unnecessary.
Temporarily Disable (Until Restart)
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
- Go to the Processes tab.
- Find HP Desktop Extension.
- Right-click and select End Task.
Permanently Disable
- Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
- Scroll down to find HP Desktop Extension Service.
- Right-click it, select Properties.
- Change Startup type to Disabled.
- Click Apply > OK, then restart your PC.
2. Close HP System Event Utility Host (OSD)
This utility controls on-screen display (OSD) notifications for HP laptops (e.g., volume, brightness, function keys).
Temporarily Disable (Until Restart)
- Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc).
- Look for HP System Event Utility Host under Processes.
- Right-click and select End Task.
