HP SSD FX300 M.2

I have an HP SSD that was DOA. When I enter the serial on the support page, it does not recognize the serial number.

Similar to this problem I found as well.

Hi @Unclaimed3475,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

We understand that your HP SSD FX300 M.2 is DOA (Dead on Arrival), and the serial number is not being recognized on the HP support website.

Why the Serial Number Is Not Recognized

For HP SSD/storage products, this behavior is expected in many cases:

  • HP support systems may not identify SSDs using the serial number alone
  • Instead, they often require a product number (PN) for validation

➡️ This is why you are seeing the message that the serial is not recognized.

What You Can Do

Step 1: Check Product Number (PN)

  • Look on the SSD label or packaging for:
    • Product Number (PN)
    • Not just the serial number
  • Try entering the product number on the HP support page

Step 2: Verify Purchase Source

  • If the SSD was purchased separately (retail):
    • Warranty is usually handled as an HP option part
    • Typically comes with a limited warranty (around 1 year)

Step 3: Contact HP Authorized Service

Since the drive is DOA, the best and fastest resolution is:

  • Visit or contact an HP Authorized Service Center
  • Carry:
    • Purchase invoice
    • SSD (physical unit)
    • Packaging (if available)

They can:

  • Verify authenticity
  • Check warranty eligibility
  • Proceed with replacement or service
