Open the HP Support Assistant. Your computing machine should be listed - Product Name, serial number and product number. Don't click that. Along the top, there is an icon that says "Support". Now click your "My Device". In the beneath your device select "HP Product Support Center". In the menu options, select User Guides. There is a user guide for memory replacement.

I also find that Crucial has a web site that if you enter in your product number will give you a list of possible upgrades they offer, which can help you figure out what RAM to purchase.

enjoy!
