I didn't really solve my original problem but I did find a way to install my SSD.
I found an adapter that fits either of my top two drive bays.

Sabrent 2.5” to 3.5” SATA Bay Converter Mounting Kit

New Real Solition:

Last night (Jan 3 2018) I was looking at the diagram of my motherboard and saw something I totally missed. I saw the two connectors each having two connect heads and a SEPARATE connector for the CW/DVD drive which I somehow missed before. I looked at the bottom connector and both heads were full. BUT the connector on the top connector had an open head. Went and bought a SATA Data cable and ran it to the vacant head to an SSD and guess what, it worked. Now I have two drives on top and two on the bottom.

Thanks to all that replied.

In this video, I unbox and install a Sabrent 2.5" to 3.5" SATA Bay Converter Mounting Kit. This allows you to install a 2.5" SATA drive in place of a 3.5" drive on computers that use a hard drive bay. The mounting kit was sturdily constructed. I did have a little trouble getting the screw lined up

I just bought the same PC and am trying to do the same thing.

Could you tell me where to find this motherboard diagram? Are the data cable ports for the HDDs on the SE corner of the motherboard when we are facing the side of the PC directly after opening the panel?

I am not sure how Dream-Weaver's adaptor works. From the video, looks like the adaptor frame has four screws attaching it to the BOTTOM of the "hot swap" trays. But the 880 series only has "hot swap" trays with screws on the side, not on the bottom.

Thank you in advance

Tic the cross for the diagram.

I had to copy the image and enlarge it 200% to make sence of it.

You're right as far as the location goes.

The adapter goes into the two top 3.5" drive bays.

The bottom bay comes with it's own.

Thanks DW.

I took the an old SATA data cable from another PC and manage to get it to work with the D:\drive that comes with the HP PC. So now I just need to get a new HDD. It was really tight inside the PC. To give room to the cable itself, it has to be snapped onto the motherboard via the higher port (from our perspective) and the lower ports have to be reserved for "hot swap" disks so that there is room for the cable to run from the top of the machine to the bottom.

I couldn't see it from the video you posted. But this picture from an ad on the internet seems to show the correct positions for the hot swap's locating screws?

Thanks again
