Was just browsing the forums for my issue and came across this post
In it something was mentioned about the cpu cooler mount not actually being hp proprietary, instead it was said that it is an lga1150 narrow type mount?
I am wondering if that is the same thing with the prodesk 600g1 tower. I am looking to upgrade from an i5 4670 to a i7 4770 and i want to make sure my temps will be well managed. I have not found much on lga1150 narrow type coolers and im wondering if someone can point me in the right direction

The member that mentioned that was not so sure.
The reality of it is that the mounting hole pattern matches the HP proprietary CPU cooler.
As long as you use the processors published as compatible and clean and paste the processor with high quality thermal paste, your temps should be fine. Do not upgrade to the "K" unlocked gaming processors.

Follow up question im currently using the tower version cpu cooler thats just straight heatsink and fan, i also have the sff version lying around which i noticed has what looks to be removable mounting brackets and that sparked an idea that i could remove them and use them on another cpu cooler even if i have to drill holes to change the screw placement 🤔
Is the sff version cooler better than the tower one?
Unsure what would work best to be honest thinking the sff one would be better as it has heatpipes but the tower version could benefit from a better fan
Im wondering if you can point me in the right direction for a good cooler that will be easily adaptable with the mounts. i ended up going with an i7 4790 should be here in the mail tomorrow morning, hoping some tf7 paste can do the trick tho i would rather get a better cooler

" even if i have to drill holes to change the screw placement"
You do know that the system boards are layered, right? I wouldn't consider doing that.
Measure the dimensions and placement of the holes and match them with the processor coolers in the market. Doing that has never failed me.
The heatpipes do help.
Thermalright TF7 paste? Nah. That would not be my choice, but it is cheap.
I prefer Arctic Silver's Ceramique 2.

Im meaning the screw placement on the mounting brackets to the heatsink, if i managed to find another cooler that has a similar enough design that it would be easy to adapt the brackets onto. I would never drill new holes through the motherboard
Ive seen one person use an nh l9i but on a g3 ellitedesk and that cooler looks like it would be easily adaptable with the mounting brackets. any other suggestions are appreciated
