I want to upgrade my psu from a 400-watt psu to a 500 or 600-watt psu. I've done a bit of research and have seen that there are mixed answers about if you can replace an hp psu with just any other psu. Here is the pc that I own https://www.hp.com/us-en/shop/pdp/hp-envy-desktop-te01-1175xt  could someone please recommend a psu that would be compatible? Thank you

I do have one concern, I looked up the psu on amazon and it was the same psu you sent that was on eBay, but it had no ratings do you have any insight on the quality of the product?  And would I be able to use a rtx 3060 in this pc ? Thank you again

@Appleshroom,

Excellent questions.  You probably mean/are referring to this purchase option: Amazon.com: LXun Upgraded New 901759-013 500W Switching PSU Power Supply Compatible with HP EliteDes....

I have no reason to question this particular purchase option. Amazon is outstanding when it comes to product returns/refunds if this becomes necessary, which I would consider unlikely.

Yes, a 500-watt power supply is more than sufficient to power an RTX 3060: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 12 GB Specs | TechPowerUp GPU Database.

@Appleshroom,

There are RTX 3060 cards that requires one 8-pin PCIe power supply cable, but then there are also RTX 3060 cards that requires one 12-pin PCIe power supply cable. Preferably, if you haven't yet purchased an RTX 3060 graphics card, consider purchasing an RTX 3060 version that needs just the one 8-pin PCIe power supply cable such as the HP-branded RTX 3060 12GB GDDR6 purchase options as offered for sale here, for example: rtx 3060 for sale | eBay.

If you already have an RTX 3060 graphics card requiring a 12-pin PCIe power supply connection, this is how you are going to make the 500-watt L05757-800 power supply work on your graphics card:

You'll have to purchase these parts:

1.) PC 8-pin EPS (CPU) Connector Housing Male - BLACK [1pcs] | eBay or: 8 pin black Female ATX connector for CPU cables | eBay (should be the same part).

2.) This part:

(The link was not allowed)

3.) chenyang CY 12Pin to ATX Dual 8Pin & 6Pin Splitter GPU Graphics Card Modular Cable for 3080 3090 AX8....

Granted, this is a somewhat involved mod project, but it should work IMO -at least this is how I would approach it if this was my project.

Hello thank you for the response,  I am unsure whether or not this graphics card: https://www.amazon.com/ZOTAC-GeForce-Graphics-IceStorm-ZT-A30600H-10M/dp/B08W8DGK3X/ref=sr_1_5?crid=... requires an 8 or 12 pin PCIe power supply cable, I would appreciate if you could help me find this out, thank you

@Appleshroom,

You are A-OK: the ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 3060 Twin Edge OC | ZOTAC is powered by one 8-pin PCIe power cable.  That means you are going to use the 6+2-pin PCIe power cable from the 500-watt L05757-800 power supply.

Mind you, I was able to power an HP Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 12GB GDDR6 graphics card with a 400-watt power supply without any graphics performance issues in this legacy upgrade project: Upgrading to an HP ProDesk 600 G4 MT - HP Support Community - 8610054.
