Unfortunately, you cannot boot from an M.2 NVMe SSD, even if you somehow were able to make it work as a storage drive using a PCIe x1 slot -which I wouldn't recommend anyway, as PCIe x1 I/O speeds would be slower than a SATA SSD.
To back up what I just stated, take a look at 3,000+ HP ProDesk 600 G1 TWR Users, none of which are shown with an M.2 NVMe SSD: UserBenchmark: HP ProDesk 600 G1 TWR Compatible Components.
