As you mentioned, your HP ProDesk 600 G2 MT (see: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04832034.pdf) has been fitted with a 280 watt power supply.

The minimum power supply requirement for a Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3050 GAMING OC 8GB is 500 watt: https://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/gigabyte-rtx-3050-gaming-oc-review,5.html#:~:text=Here%20is%20....

You could get rid of your stock power supply by using an ATX power adapter cable, such as this one: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256803544107453.html?gatewayAdapt=glo2usa4itemAdapt&_randl_shipto=US or this one: Amazon.com: COMeap 24 Pin to 6 Pin ATX Power Adapter Cable for HP Z220 Z230 SFF MT TWR Series 4000 6..., which can replace your current PSU with an (externally parked) industry standard ATX power supply, say 650 watt.  This would solve your GPU power supply/demand issue, but the question is, would an RTX 3050 GPU even fit inside your computer case?  -You would have to carefully measure that.

There also happens to be a solution for that as well: use an PCIe extension cable and park your GPU outside your case.  Please take a look how I did that with my HP Compaq Pro 6300 SFF upgrade project: Solved: Upgrading HP Compaq Pro 6300 SFF - HP Support Community - 8184303.

And by the way, here are HP ProDesk 600 G2 MT UserBenchMark entries, which show that if you are willing to cough up the funds for an RTX 3080 Ti, you could make that work on your desktop, too: UserBenchmark: HP ProDesk 600 G2 MT Compatible Components.

And if it is the case that you want to go all-out and upgrade your CPU as well, do I have got good news for you: the i7-6700K is also compatible with your PC, such as shown in this HP ProDesk 600 G2 MT rig: HP ProDesk 600 G2 MT Performance Results - UserBenchmark.

Please note -as addressed in my aforementioned HP desktop upgrade project posts, if you go with a "K" processor -or any high-performance CPU, it is very likely that you need to improve airflow through your CPU heatsink because the i7-6700K has a 91 watt TDP, generating more heat, in other words.

You need a compact ATX power supply that would fit (LxWxH) where the original power supply if fitted.  For example, take a look at this affordably priced 550 watt fully modular compact EVGA power supply: Amazon.com: EVGA 550 B5, 80 Plus BRONZE 550W, Fully Modular, EVGA ECO Mode, 5 Year Warranty, Compact....

The advantage of a fully or semi-modular power supply is that you only need to plug in the power cables you need for your desktop, which makes power cable management a breeze.

You also need the COMeap 24 Pin to 6 Pin ATX Power Adapter Cable as mentioned.

Removing the old PSU and replacing it with the new one and hooking it up with the power adapter cable is not complicated.

If the holding screw-holes don't line up with the new power supply, use double sticky-sided Velcro tape to secure the PSU.
