Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi I want to upgrade my ram from 8gb (2x4) to 16 (2x8),but not sure what to buy. I tried some Corsair Vengence Pro but it would only run at 2133. I would like something that can run at 2666 like the stock 8gb's that are in it now. Trying to learn but it is very confusing with all the different mhz and profiles. I can't overclock on the stock motherboard so it has to run at 2666 out of the box. Thanks for any help you can give me to point me in the right direction.

Specs of the series:

       https://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/hp-pavilion-gaming-desktop-tg01-1160xt-8mp64av-1

which shows you have few options when ordering your machine

  • 8 GB DDR4-2666 SDRAM (2 X 4 GB)   - your machine now
  • 16 GB DDR4-2666 SDRAM (2 X 8 GB)
  • 32 GB DDR4-2666 SDRAM (2 x 16 GB)
  • 16 GB DDR4-2933 SDRAM (2 x 8 GB)
  • 32 GB DDR4-2933 SDRAM (2 x 16 GB)

Quick and safe is to use a tool called CPU-Z to find out which RAM is on your machine now and buy similar one or try the following compatible RAM:

                    https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/ct2k8g4dfra266/ct18785689

You can also use following RAM (will run at 2666MHz)

                    https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/ct2k8g4dfra32a/ct18792124

Thank you very much for the quick response. I have a question for my own knowledge going forward. When you look at the ram how do you know it will run at 2666 and not 2133. I feel like I'm missing something that is probably obvious. Again thanks for the help I'm going to order some today.
