Hey Non-Sequitur...
The GMKtec M7 Mini Gaming PC is definitely the most Bang for Buck. Good recommendation!
Having never considered GMKtec previously, I may have missed this.
I was looking primarily at Minisform, Beelink, and MSI, due their closer relations to North America. (I'm still trying to remain loyal)
My only complaint about these Mini PCs' is the lack of USB ports as this Pavilion has 6 in the rear with 2 in the front.
The KVM switch I have is 20 years old, if it's a day.
If I invest in a new KVM with 4 USB ports, capable of rendering 4K, I can manage my keyboard, mouse, camera, and printer through it.
Then I can work both Con-pewters while I transfer the various files / settings.
Once the
I have a USB Hub from a Laptop I used prior to the Pavilion for my 3 external Hard Drives until I sort things out.
Once the GMKtec M7 Mini Gaming PC is all set up I can play with Linux on the Pavilion.
It may find a Good Home as I have all the Peripherals left over from my Gaming upgrades.
What do you think? Am I insane?
It's a shame that HP hasn't come up with something comparable that the average person could afford.
This was my second HP tower. I passed the previous 1 on to my Dad before his Dementia got bad.
Thanks for the Support!
Andy.

No, you are certainly not insane -you are trying to make the best choice possible prior to investing in a new device, getting the most bang for your (Canadian) buck, and I'm glad I can assist you. Yes, as far as mini-PCs are concerned, the GMKtec options look very promising, with loads of positive customer reviews!
It is unfortunate that HP hasn't caught on (yet?) in creating an affordable mini-PC model platform.
Kind Regards,
