my 250g hard is way too full despite extensive space saving measures like storing files on OneDrive only and moving larger files to SSD drives. I would like to replace my HDD with a 1TB HDD or SSD - is this possible ??

Its specs
https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c05367112
It has TWO physical drives
256 GB 3D TLC Solid State
- Size: 256 GB
- Interface: SATA
- Type: 3D TLC Solid State
- Width: 2.5 in (6.35 cm)
1 TB
- Size: 1 TB
- Interface: SATA
- Rotational Speed: 7200 RPM
but if you wish you can upgrade 256GB to 1TB or 2TB using same SATA SSD (which is a standard 2.5" SSD as on notebooks) .
Regards

That is great news, thanks so much for your response. Sorry but now I need to be 100% sure...............so I can replace the 256k main hard drive with 1TB or 2TB SSD? if so is there a specific manufacturer/model you recommend (any of these for instance?? https://www.newegg.com/p/pl?d=1tb+tlc+sata+ssd) and are there any posted instructions for installation? - thanks again for your help and advice

As indicated above, it IS 2.5" SSD, you can replace it with 1TB or 2TB 2.5" SSD which is a standard 2.5" (6.35cm) SSD for notebooks (note, it is NOT an M.2 format).
Quick and easy (in terms of firmware): Device Manager will tell you its brand and model, you can buy same band with larger capacity.

How do you connect them, you need a right adapter for USB to SATA

i connected them using a new "StarTech.com USB 3.1 to 2.5" SATA Hard Drive Adapter - USB 3.1 Gen 2 10Gbps with UASP External HDD/SSD Storage Converter" that I purchased with new Samsung SSD drive. I also have existing outboard Sandisk SSD drive with USB2/SATA connector which i swapped over just to prove the new connector was OK. The Sandisk works great with either cable but the new SAmsung disk is not recognized at all.
thanks in advance
