I have tried both USB2/SATA & USB3.11/SATA - niether shows new 2TB disk in windows file explorer BUT both cables will show existing outboard SSD I have had for two years. Windows Disk Management DOES show my new 2TB SSD but states it is not initialized. It also shows in Device Manager but i cannot initialize or assign a volume number from Device Manager.  I have uninstalled the disk in Device Manager and rebooted my desktop but still not showing in file explorer. I have tried all recommended suggestions I can find but cannot find a solution. It looks like I need to either initialize or at least assign it a volume number but there does not appear anyway to make file explorer recognize the 2TB SSD

HELP!!!!

thanks in advance

thanks Banhien - that worked great. After downloading AOMEI I was able to rebuild MBR (took about 2 hours), then diskmgmt.msc recognized the disk and i was able to initialize. After initializing Samsung Data Migration recognized my new SSD as DRIVE G: - that allowed me to migrate files from my C: DRIVE to my new SSD G: DRIVE and now it displays perfectly in File Explorer.

I have yet to migrate the OS Windows 10 and will advise accordingly. Right now I need to get out of this office chair as I have spent entirely too much time here over last few days

thanks again Banhien

my 250g hard is way too full despite extensive space saving measures like storing files on OneDrive only and moving larger files to SSD drives. I would like to replace my HDD with a 1TB HDD or SSD - is this possible ??
