I would like to upgrade my desktop with a newer graphics card.

Just wanted to follow up on on the results of our new GPU. Sorry it took a while to get one but I was able to purchase a sapphire pulse radeon rx 5600 xt BE model and install it with no problems. Just as a note even though it shows a slower clock speed than the regular sapphire 5600 xt model you can overclock it to bascially the same specifications. I have gone into the settings and also overclocked it to 1820 mhz for the GPU clock speed and 1860 mhz for the memory clock speed. I have run a number of high demand games with no issues. I just now also ran the MSI afterburner kombustor for a GPU stress test at the highest possible outputs and it passed with flying colors with no issues. This placed the highest possible wattage demands from the GPU and the power supply and it did great with no problems. I also recommend overclocking the this GPU since by overclocking and undervolting it actually reduces the power output but improves performance by about 10 percent. I would highly recommend the sapphire pulse rx 5600 xt BE edition since this will fit with no issues inside the hp 690-00xx series case. The performance is also much better in gaming than with the stock amd radeon rx 580 that it came with.

Now, just for the record, you did this with the original 400W PSU or did you upgrade to the 500W?

That is correct this is with the original 400 watt power supply. I was a little concerned when I ran the MSI afterburner kombustor program since it runs the GPU at its extreme limits of the card but it had no issues with the power supply. I think it helps that when I overclocked it I also undervolted the GPU which should lower the power demand. Also the newer sapphire pulse radeon rx 5600 xt BE card is more efficient than the RX 580 which i also believe helps. Although it was a little tight it also fit nicely into the HP case and all I needed to do was remove the plastic wire bracket. I think the amd ryzen 5 2400g maybe bottlenecking the GPU a little bit but it appears to run very demanding games with no apparent issues. I really appreciate all your support and I hope this helps others if they are considering upgrading their GPU.
