Hi:

See if this works...

Download and run the 64 bit W7 driver directly from the Intel website.

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/18228/Intel-Graphics-Media-Accelerator-Driver-for-Windows-...

Yes, I know.

There is no W8.1 driver, so use the W7 driver for now, just to install the graphics adapter.

W8.1 will install an update later on.

If it doesn't install automatically, I will give you a way to manually install the driver.

OK.

Download and install this free file utility.

The 2nd one at the top of the page is for 64 bit.

https://www.7-zip.org/

Then download and save the Intel graphics driver again if you need it.

Do not run it this time.

After you save the Intel graphics driver file, right click on it, and select 7-Zip from the list of items.

Have 7-Zip Extract to: and let it extract the driver exe file into its folder name.

Once that is done, go to the device manager, click to expand the Display Adapters device manager category.

Click on the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter.

Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update Driver.

Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and then at the bottom of that window, select the Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.

Click on Have Disk, and browse to the driver folder 7-Zip created>Graphics>igdlh64 (setup information file), and see if the driver installs that way.

If it does, restart the PC.

Then the PC's graphics should be fine with or without W8.1 finding an updated driver.

You're very welcome.

I wish I knew why the GT 610 quit working, but at least you now have a working graphics adapter.

Someday, reinstall the GT 610 graphics card, reinstall Windows 8.1, and start fresh.
