Info on Ram upgrade, comes with 16 GB says it can be upgraded to 32 GB however

I have just purchased this All In One and am wanting to price the upgrade from 16 to 32 GB of memory.  I called the parts from HP and they cannot reference the chip nor do they sell the 16 GB chips, crucial scanner says this can only go to 16 GB when the website as well as the motherboard says it can with a 64 bit system be upgraded to 32 GB.  So seems there is no help finding the correct chips.  The Motherboard has Two DDR4 SODIMM (260-pin) sockets.  I was thinking of putting in the same type chip, everything matches from the 8 gb chip recommended to the 16.  However, when I reference the Specs of the Motherboard, this is what it says:

• Dual channel memory architecture
• Two DDR4 SODIMM (260-pin) sockets
• Supports up to DDR4-2666 (PC4-21300)
• Supports 2 GB, 4 GB, and 8 GB DDR4 SODIMMs
• Supports up to 4 GB on 32-bit systems

  NOTE: 

  32-bit systems cannot address a full 4.0 GB of memory.

• Supports up to 32 GB (unbuffered) with two 16 GB DIMMs on 64-bit systems

  NOTE: 

  Maximum memory shown reflects the capability of the hardware and can be limited further in the operating system.

  Now what is confusing is the last part to have 2 16 GB Dimm Chips at 16 GB.  I know there are adapters to fit sodimm into Dimm slots but never have I seen the opposite.  Could someone please help and assist.  So very much appreciated.

Hi:

Your PC uses notebook type memory, not desktop.  Most AIO PC's use notebook memory, even though they are referred to as desktop PC's.

Notebook memory is normally referred to as SODIMM and desktop memory is referred to as DIMM or UDIMM.

Definitely a lot of contradictory statements in the specs.

Your notebook uses DDR4-2666 memory.

Looking at the Crucial report for your PC, the compatible 8 GB 2666 MHz part number is:  CT8G4SFRA266

I am pretty sure that a PC with an Intel 10th gen core processor can support 32 GB of memory.

It probably could support 64 GB of memory.

Open it up and check it out first before buying any memory just to be 100% sure.

Thank you so much for confirming what I had thought.  It just confused me about when they spoke of DIMM, I thought to myself, how can a Dimm chip fit into a sodimm slot.  But I have been retired for awhile and maybe that is why HP doesn't offer the 32 GB version but leaves it up to you.  Thank you again ever so much!

While I don't work for or represent HP, perhaps it would price the PC above what most folks would want to pay for it, if they offered one with 32 GB of memory.
