Greetings,
Welcome back to the forum.
I am not a HP employee.
Your MB has the correct M.2 socket located near the RAM slots.
The HP NVME drive is the correct PCIe 3.0x4 interface.
The one thing you need to verify is if your MB will accept a 80 mm (3.15 inches) drive. The HP EX 900 is a 2280 drive. It is 80 mm in length.
The HP NVME drive will fit if the distance from the M.2 socket to one of the MB mount points is 80 mm.

Thanks for your help and the info. I realize this is a bit redundant but before I order online I want to make sure this is going to work & not have any hassle returning it. With the mount plate for the DVD and the HD I assume I can take about 4 screws out and just lift the mounting plate back and measure my available room B/4 I order the SSD and plug it in when it arrives. Any other tricks to getting into the M 2 socket area I cant see now? I'm going to remove the current HD and store it just in case I have to put it back in for a warranty issue. Again Thank both of you for your assistance.

Hi Rgh43-,
The M.2 socket on the newer HP Desktops has the M.2 socket buried by the optical drive and the HDD cage.
I forgot about this. Tried to check the HP Partner Services Media Library (Link) but the site seems to be down. There may be a video on how to install the M.2 drive in your PC.
You can try the Link and I will check back later to see if the site is back in business.

Than You,It did look like a bit of work to get into. I will try some sources on the How to get in there. Looks like 4 screws and I could tilt everything back or i might have to remove that Black mounting bracket, most likely will if I remove the original H/D for safekeeping.

Hi,
You're very welcome.
I think the HDD cage may swing away from the motherboard. You would still probably have to remove the optical drive.
Folks were trying add add more HDDs or 2.5 inch SSDs and could not determine how to mount the devices in the HDD cage.
The HP Media Library still seems to be down. There are a lot of good "How To" videos for many HP devices at this Library.
