Product: HPE Pavilion H8-1360t
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have upgraded the operating system of a Pavilion HPE H8-1360t desktop to windows 10. I still have the 7.1 BIOS version and Windows 10 seems to be operating fine. If I want to add more RAM and/or video card it looks like the BIOS needs to be updated. The 8.21 BIOS looks to be the most updated version for windows 8. No BIOS upgrade recommendation is made for Windows 10 on this computer because HP does not support updates for this computer anymore, and the installation of Windows 10. That is a shame because this computer came with 16 GB of RAM and an i7 processor. Heck they are still selling i5 computers presently that run much slower. With a SSD recently installed this thing is lightning fast and can be useful for a long time into the future. Is it safe to install the 8.21 BIOS version and how can I safely do that without HP Support Assistant Installed. I cannot get the newest version of HP support assistant to install and the older version does not recommend any updates.

From what has been explained on the forum, you can not upgrade the BIOS.

Now, I should really ask why you wanted it?

As your unit is circa 2011, it should have BIOS 7.21, but there is a problem. The HP support page has reference on the support page linking version 8.21. You installed WIN 10, so your not able to install any BIOS update as such update would be linked to the original BIOS. To verify actually what level/version of BIOS, run this program.  Look at Boot Environment.

It says the computer has AMI 7.15, installed 7/2/2012. From what I gather you are saying with windows 10 installed, there is no way to update the BIOS to 8.12?

I don't remember how long I've had the computer. I know its been over 6 years since I bought it. It was purchased brand new. It has a great processor and alot of RAM and it has been a great functioning computer. Windows 10 works better and more stable on this desktop computer than a laptop I  have owned for only a few years. The desktop recently had a 1tb ssd installed and it is lightning fast and working better than ever. I will not be adding any additional RAM or high end video cards to this computer. The Power Supply will probably not be able to meet the extra demand anyway. When it dies, I will take out the SSD and get a new computer.
