HP Z1 G9 Tower Desktop (525J6AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello,

I just bought a brand-new HP Workstation Z1 G9 running running Win 11 Pro 22H2.

This computer is sold without the Wifi and Bluetooth card. I contacted HP support who advised me to install Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX211 - Network adapter - M.2 2230 (CNVio2) - 802.11ax: Bluetooth 5.2.

As far as I know, the AX211 Wi-Fi adapter, in order for it to work properly it uses other components in the PC such as the processor in order for the Wi-Fi to work. The installed CPU on this Z1G9 is 12th gen. So, it should support the AX211 isn't it?

So, I bought this Wifi adapter, unfortunately it's sold without antennas. Can you advise what antennas to install, and where to find it?

Regards

There is a wide selection of cards on Amazon in France at the following hyperlink.

My own preference is ASUS brand, but choosing by reading the reviews should help you choose one that is less costly. I would not choose one with less than four to four and one half stars.

According to the specifications, the HP Z1 G9 tower that you purchased should have a WIFI adapter included.

Thanks Erico for your reply. Indeed, this card should have been included… apparently not in France.

However, as I wrote above, I bought the WLAN PCB. The problem is that there are no antennas and I do not know the reference of the antennas or where to find them.
Also, the only information I got from HP support is, that I can install an Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX211 WLAN. As for the antennas… they don't know.

Can you help with the antennas?

I am still looking for more information.

Google.fr search for online vendor sources in Europe for the wireless antenna for your PC.

I did find this remove/replace video which has a section on removing and replacing the wireless antennas that may help you. It actually involves an almost complete disassembly of the PC.

How did the ordering parts and installation go?

If you don't want to go through the trouble of installing the Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX211 and wifi antenna, you can always use a USB wifi-6 dongle instead.

Hello,

As promised here my conclusion:

I had to return the antenna purchased, it does not fit. As for the AX211 card, I'm also returning it because I can't find the antenna anywhere.
I'm going to fall back on a Wifi 6E BlueTooth 5.2 pciexpress card. Can you advise what card?
