Is this a RAM module problem or motherboard RAM socket problem?

I upgraded my desktop CPU from Ryzen 2400G to Ryzen 2600 and with the following RAM modules. The motherboard is Sunflower.

• SK Hynix 8GB DDR4 1Rx16 PC4 3200MHz 1.2v - HMAA1GS6CJR6N-XN
• Samsung 8GB DDR4 1Rx16 PC4 3200MHz 1.2v - M378A1G44AB0-CWE

Works --> RAM Socket 1: SK Hynix RAM Socket 2: Empty

Works --> RAM Socket 1: Samsung RAM Socket 2: Empty

Not Work --> RAM Socket 1: Empty RAM Socket 2: SK Hynix

Not Work --> RAM Socket 1: Empty RAM Socket 2: Samsung

Not Work --> RAM Socket 1: Samsung RAM Socket 2: SK Hynix

Not Work --> RAM Socket 1: SK Hynix RAM Socket 2: Samsung

It looks like as long as I have something in RAM Socket 2 then it doesn't work, can I assume RAM Socket 2 is bad?

Or the problem are my RAM modules since they are not the same brand?

That part number for the Samsung is for a laptop stick of memory not a desktop.  Please check its part number as it cannot be right.  In any event it needs to be return ---

The parts list for your system is here and the HP part number for the 8gb "desktop" memory is 934254-800

That is a Hynix as shown over at eBay

You need to get a matched pair as HP system are picky.

The Samsung RAM is not laptop RAM, it is desktop RAM, here's one in Amazon.

from what you indicate, each module will work alone in socket 1
So both modules work, and seem compatible
I've seen that sometimes slot #2 can't be used on its own, though, I don't know if that's a fact, or a special case!
As a general rule if two modules do not work together, there may be incompatibility between the two
Only, hard to be sure here, you might have a problem with the second slot
You have done several tests, so I find it hard to think that the module is plugged in incorrectly..
Maybe dust...

You are correct, I listed the Samsung instead of the HMAA1GS6CJR6N-XN Hynix which is the laptop one

In any event the chip to get is the HP one if the parts list 934254-800 is correct

Best is to look at the stick that came with the system, get the HP part number, and find one on ebay or aliexpress depending on your location.
