Hi @Cosminalex,
Good Day. Thank you for taking an interest in the HP community. I understand that you are not able to access the bios with the keyboard. I will be really glad to assist you here. 🙂
Fabulous description and superb diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that. 🙂 You are a valued HP customer and it is paramount to assist you. I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you. 🙂
For me to assist you with accurate information I would require more information regarding this.
Why do you need to access the bios?
Please perform these steps:
- Please perform a hard reset from this link: http://support.hp.com/za-en/document/c01463028
- Then connect a USB wired keyboard and mouse to the desktop computer
- It looks like a wireless keyboard that you are using. So please use a wired keyboard and mouse using a USB port and access the bios. It should work.
- Wireless keyboards don’t work outside of windows to access the bios.
- The wired USB keyboard should help you access the bios without hassles. You don’t need to enable the USB ports to access the bios. Pressing F10 as soon as you power on the computer should help you access the bios.
- Once you access the bios, you could load the bios defaults from this link: http://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c00364979
- To run system diagnostics on the computer please visit this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02491515 and run the extensive tests to ensure that the computer hardware is fully functional based on the type of diagnostics that has been installed on the computer.
- It could be HP Vision Diagnostics or Hardware Diagnostic Tools. Please select the correct one to run the diagnostics.
- If you have any further issues with the computer, don’t worry. I am always there to assist you.
Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. The trick is to remain patient, please. Please note that I am not overloading you with a lot of troubleshooting steps. Instead, just like you, I am eager to ensure that the problem gets resolved. So I am providing you with more resources and information at your disposal to deal with the situation better.
Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great
.
Take care now and have a superb week ahead. 🙂

It looks like you were interacting with @DavidSMP, but he is out for the day & I'll be glad to help you out,
I'm the Riddle_Decipher & I'm at your service.
If you've tried more than one keyboard with different USB ports within your desktop and it still doesn't work, it's most probably your desktop and not the keyboard that needs a repair, I recommend you troubleshoot the computer further:
The best way to do that is using the HP Guided Troubleshooter:
Click here to access it (simply select your description of the issue from the bottom of the screen to gain access to the next set of steps that should resolve your concern).
For more step by step instructions: Click here
Let me know how that works out, keep me in the loop and Good luck! 😉

Hi @Cosminalex,
I reviewed the response. I am happy for you. that the computer is working. You've been simply amazing and meticulous in your troubleshooting paying thorough attention to detail. 🙂 Brilliant stuff. 🙂 Kudos to you for that and it is greatly appreciated. 🙂
Please try these steps again to access the bios. Trust me I've done everything I can to assist you by keeping your best interest in mind. 🙂
Please perform a hard reset after disconnecting all the components again.
- Then reconnect only the keyboard, mouse and monitor back. Then first keep tapping the "Esc" key on the keyboard gently several times and later power on the computer. Please continue tapping this key even as it powers on.
- This should take you to the startup menu.
- Here if you press the F10 key it should take you to the bios. You could then press F9 to reload setup defaults and press F10 to save changes and exit.
- This should work.
Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes and do keep me posted about it. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. 🙂
Take care now, stay healthy, keep smiling big and do have a blessed year ahead. 🙂
