Lincs Motherboard 834b

I know this question has been asked numerous times, but, I haven't seen or found a definitive answer to it.  Is the Lincs motherboard's M.2 slot SATA or NVME?????  My machine has an M.2 SATA ssd in it.  Which I didn't know until I cloned it to brand new WD M.2 NVME drive and it wouldn't boot the pc once installed.  That's what I get for "assuming". I just visually looked at it and assumed it was an NVME drive.  Does any one the any definitive info on this motherboard?  I thought you could use an M>2 NVME in the M.2 slot as long as the M key was there. Well, guess I'm finding out things the hard way.  Onto returning parts I can't seem to use. Thanks

Well, now, that is most interesting, because I also "assumed" that a Lincs motherboard (SSID: 843B) was indeed compatible with an M.2 NVMe SSD, as seen here aplenty amongst HP Pavilion Desktop 590-p0xxx Users with M.2 NVMe SSD system drives such as a Samsung 970 Evo NVMe PCIe M.2, Crucial P2 3D NVMe PCIe M.2, and HP EX950 NVMe PCIe M.2: https://www.userbenchmark.com/System/HP-Pavilion-Desktop-590-p0xxx/86716.

I already indicated at the link below that it was.

You may have to update the BIOS in order for a NVMe SSD to work.

If you are not willing to take that risk, (and there is always some risk when running a BIOS update), then I recommend you install a M.2 SATA SSSD such as the Western Digital Blue SA510 M.2 SSD.

Here are other posts I found where someone installed a NVMe SSD in a PC with a LIncs motherboard and reported that it worked.

Hi Paul, thanks again for responding. and yes, I did a BIOS update that went swimmingly well.  But, I still can't get my NVME to boot up Windows.  I don't know, maybe it's something I'm missing, not doing after the cloning process, which I might add, completes fine. Maybe I just need to reserve myself to using M.2 SATA drive, and be content. It just mystifies me, that even with an older HP Pavilion I gave away, I had no issues cloning lNVME's to it. I ordered a SATA M.2 and an enclosure, I'll see how that works. If you come up with any new info please let me know. I'll keep you posted.

Yes, I don't get it either.

Also, for whatever reason I don't think that model is supported by the HP cloud recovery tool, because that was my other suggestion...to use that tool to create bootable recovery media to install the factory image on the NVMe SSD.

You could try clean installing W10 on the NVMe SSD with the media creation tool software.
