Z440
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I’m planning to upgrade graphics card for my hpz440 workstation. At present, I’ve default graphics card provided which is quadro k2200 with 2GB card. I would like to use a 4K graphics  card with 4K 32inch Resolution monitor for games in my PC. I’ve windows 10 1803 64bit version with 32gb RAM and xoen processor.

I’m thinking to buy AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT 8GB card. not sure if this works or am suppose to use different 4K graphics cards ?

Can you please advise.

Thanks in Advance.

@Aoelover , welcome to the forum.

Here is the Maintenance and Service Guide for the workstation.  On Page 7, HP Z440 Workstation components, it lists the requirements for a graphic card.  Also, here are the "Specifications" for the RX 5700 XT.  It appears that your workstation meets the requirements for the card if you have the 700W power supply unit (PSU) that was offered when you purchased it.  The only concern that I have is, does your PSU have the 1x8-pin and 1x6-pin power connectors.  This information is in the section titled "Additional power connector" near the bottom of the specifications.

Each card manufacturer has their own specifications for their cards.  You should choose a manufacturer and check the specifications.  The only other caveat is the length of the card.  You can measure the space where the card will be installed and compare this measurement with that of the card you choose.

You are welcome, @Aoelover!

The 1x8-pin and 1x6-pin connectors are normally labeled "PCIe".  Here is a good article that will help you understand why they are required.  If you have further questions, please just ask.
