d10-240p1a
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My desktop has a power supply, model number d10-240p1a.  It's a 240V power supply and I'm looking to see if HP can help me find a replacement power supply that is at least 300 to accommodate an aftermarket video card.  The local computer shop didn't have anything to replace this one with because connections to the mobo wouldn't work with another type of power source.  He suggested finding out the form factor and see if HP had the same form factor that would fit in my desktop but with higher voltage.

If it's available, that would be great in the same form factor, but I'd also settle for another form that just had the proper connections to make it work.

FYI, the video card does not require another power source, it gets it from the mobo.

Thanks so much.

no, your power supply is unique in both shape/size and motherboard pwr connector. you will not be able to upgrade this unit

your only option is to replace the system, and skip SFF (Small Form Farctor) systems, as they will have restrictions on expanadability/upgradeability, stay with mini tower/tower systems

@chuck1969,

Curious......what is the model number of this HP.

If it were an HP 6200 Pro SFF, it's likley Legacy BIOS, as it was circa 2011.

The newer GTX1000 series cards are not Legacy BIOS.

Yours is a proprietary PSU @ 240Watts [not volts], unlikely to find anything compatible in 300W.

But since your video card gets it's power from the motherboard you may still be able to use.

Here is a basic PSU Calculator you can use to input your components and see the recommended PSU wattage.

A more detailed PSU Calculator here.

@wb2001 makes a good point about Legacy BIOS. You may have to use an older card that supports legacy BIOS.

There were also 'Dual BIOS' graphics cards a few years back that would work with either BIOS or UEFI.

It's a Pro 6300 small form factor.  I expect that it was previously an office desktop.  I think it's a refurb.

That's a real shame that it's so limited and can't be upgraded, but I get it.

I appreciate the help folks!
