Hi, I recently purchased an HP M01-F3224 (577L7AA) desktop PC and want to add a second SSD for file storage. The M.2 slots are both already used, so I'm looking at using an M.2 adapter in the open PCIe 16x slot. Are there any limitations/requirements/suggestions on adapters and M.2 SSDs with this desktop? Is there anything else I should be considering for this setup? Would I need to change anything in BIOS? Thanks in advance!

There are no special requirements or limitations as to what PCIe to M.2 NVMe SSD adapter you should use, and there is nothing you need to change or access BIOS for either.
Personally, I would consider something like this: Amazon.com: NVMe PCIe Adapter, RIITOP M.2 NVMe to PCI-e x4/x8/x16 Card with Heat Sink for M.2 (M Key..., which also comes with a heatsink for your M.2 NVMe SSD, another bonus.
You want to go with an actual PCIe expansion card, consider something like this: Amazon.com: Bejavr M.2 NVME to PCIe 3.0/4.0 x4 Adapter, NVME/AHCI SSD to PCIe Expansion Card with Al....
