When I was looking around for a BIOS update, that was the last I found. As for any further updates - the answer is no.  OEM's do not spend research time on things such as BIOS updates unless the original is proven to be faulty.  If enough happens to show a BIOS is not working properly, then it will get updated but they do not get updates to accommodate new CPU's or hardware like Retail boards do..

Is there is a possibility that the CPU or motherboard is faulty?  Due to the age of that CPU, a replacement should be rather cheap - around $10.00 for Athlon X2 5200+ on EBay.com

I have another Am2 asus board - but its uATX and I was hoping to get an ITX board. Nonetheless I intent to fit the CPU to that board and then I'll stress test it using Prime95 etc - and I'll let you know what occurs.

Just FYI I got into the BIOS of the ITX board (thanks for that) and it happy ran for several minutes - unfortunately there was nothing at all that I could adjust to possibly help accommodate the CPU. As you say OEM boards - not really designed for us tinkerers 🙂

Yes, unfortunately an OEM board has to be used pretty much as if it was still in the original build, as there is not much "wiggle room" to make changes.  Normally an OEM BIOS will not allow many changes, if any, to accommodate something that is was not designed to accommodate.
