Elitedesk 800 G4
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I have a question regarding memory. As described here https://www8.hp.com/h20195/V2/GetPDF.aspx/4aa7-3125eee it says 128GB maximum memory, but in various sites, it says 64GB max memory. So anyone can confirm which is correct?

And secondly, what is the maximum bus speed this system supports? because the good memory options like G Skill and others go to 3000 or 3600 bus speed. and in the 2666 limit there are like Adata and Kingston etc.

Hi:

According to the specs you posted, the fastest processor is the i7-8700.

That means the fastest speed the memory will run at is 2666 MHz.

Any faster memory will only 'downclock' or 'bridge' to 2666 MHz.

I recommend that you get DDR4-2666 MHz memory.

The crucial memory report for your PC indicates the max is 4 x 16 GB.

The i7-8700 processor specs indicate that it can support up to 128 GB of memory.

I'm thinking you can install 4 x 32 GB if your PC has the i7 processor.

This would pertain to models with 4 memory slots such as the tower or SFF.

Thanks, Paul,

I have i7-8700 with 4 memory slots. (Tower PC). So I believe I can install 128GB in total. Can we upgrade the processor to 8700K on this machine?
