You have a great day too!

Yep, I remember WNEW.

I used to watch shows like Sandy Becker on that channel when I was a youngster.

Yes, I bet going to NYC from SC was a bit of a shock.

I felt the same way going from the NYC metro area to my second assignment in the Coast Guard, to Oklahoma City.

Hi Paul

I also spend some time in OK. City My day was in FAA school at the Air Force Base. For me, that was much before NYC when I was in elementary school.  You have a good afternoon.

I was stationed at the FAA Academy.

The USCG occupied the 2nd floor of the Mike Mulroney Aeronautical Center.

Our two oldest kids were born at Tinker AFB.

Small world.

Take care!

Hi Paul:
Just a final wrap up of our recent conversations.
Both my 8200 and my 8300 are functioning correctly.
Both have 32 GB RAM each. I can access the UEFI setup in both.
I dual-boot the 8200 using a piece of Ubuntu software called refind. This performed just like I wanted
(i.e. being able to select Windows 10 or Ubuntu 20.04 at restart without going into UEFI setup).
The replacement Motherboard works just fine but I do have one question about it.
When I enter the UEFI setup it says I should press Control-P to enter MEBX.
Research has led me to assume that MEBx is an Intel competitor to American Megatrends. Do I need to know anything about MEBx?

I do not know what your position is with HP but you have been an amazing amount of help to me.
I have enjoyed our conversations and regret that this maybe the last one.
I hope you are doing well.
Best regards

Mike

You're very welcome, Mike.

Glad everything is running as it should.

Unfortunately, I have no idea what that command is but here is some information on it.

This document tells me that I would not fool with it.  😊

Intel® Management Engine BIOS Extension Options for Intel® Desktop...

I am only a volunteer HP forum member, and have no affiliation with HP.

I am just familiar with the HP business desktops, having owned almost every model from the d510 to the 8200 Elite.

Take care, and happy computing!

You have a good day. Maybe when I grow up, I know as much abut computers as you do.

Best Regards.

if you had googled MEBx you most likely would have found your answer MEBx is mostly used for remote access but can do quite a few things as it's part of the Intel Management engine

in bios go to "Management Operations" and look for MEBx setup, and set to disabled to remove  prompt during startup and speed up boot time

in the bios, go to "device options" and look for NIC PXE Option ROM Download (enable/disable) and set to disabled to remove boot from network, and speed up boot time

"MBEX" is part of the onboard network and relates to boot from network boot from network

HI Paul .. I  been able to figure out things to this point   BUT

Is there a way I can update TPM 1.2 tp TPM 2.0 (which will be required for Windows 11)?

I have been searching the HP site and there is apparently a way to do it but I can't seem to figure out how.

The instructions do not seem to work. ALSO

Is it possible to communicate with you directly rather that the HP site?

Thanks a bunch

Mike
