most systems use what's called "dual channel" ram and the motherboard will have either 2 or 4 memory sockets

if only 2 sockets then it may be SINGLE channel and memory  must be the same size in both sockets

if only 2 sockets it may be DUAL channel and memory modules can be any supported size in any socket

if 4 sockets then you have DUAL channel with each channel being 2 sockets  A1/A2 - B1/B2 and each channel must have matching memory  IE- A1=4gb A2=4gb  B1=8gb B2=8gb

usually if 4 dimm slots the 2 channels will have different color sockets

crucial shows your system having:

memory sockets:

2  (2 banks of 1)  Each socket is a single bank, so you will have dual channel if both sockets are filled

Maximum memory:
32GB

Did you buy the correct/compatible ram?
