I realize that your computer's lan line is offline but posted the link anyway. The idea would be to locate the list of drivers which came with your system, using a USB flash card or even your smart phone one would need to download the driver from a mirrored site and connect the phone or USB to your computer and retrieve the driver from there.

The link above (if you had been connected) scans your system for all available drivers software which you can download. I had the same issue with my comp as the related lan line driver was not locating correctly, thus I wasn't able to access the data base via the net with the computer. But as I did I was able to use an alternitive devices like my smart phone to transfer the driver to a USB flash card then update the driver.

Hi, @PanosC

You need this driver for that device...

This package contains the Intel Host Embedded Controller Interface (HECI)driver for access to Active Management Technology (AMT) as part of the Intel Digital Office Initiative for the listed desktop models and operating systems.

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp34501-35000/sp34743.exe

Manually install the driver if the auto install method doesn't work.

Thank you for your answer.

The drivers were unable to be installed after i run the .exe file provided in the other answer, but i installed the driver it extracted manually afterwards and this issue was fixed.

Unfortunately, my Ethernet adapter is still not working and i assume it got damaged.

You're very welcome.

If you don't see an Intel or Broadcom ethernet controller listed under the network adapters device manager category, or you don't see an ethernet controller listed where the PCI Simple Communications Controller was listed before I gave you the driver to install, then yes, the onboard ethernet chip is dead.

If that is the case, the easiest thing to do to restore the ethernet connection would be to purchase an external USB to RJ-45 ethernet adapter.

The thing is that it shows me under the Network Adapters, the Intel 82566DM Gigabit Network Connection, which is the one that appears having an error. So the system "sees" it. But when i double-click on it, it says that "The device cannot start. Operation failed".

Do you think there is something i can do about it, or just to purchase a USB adapter?

HP Recommended

See if you can reinstall the device properly by right clicking on it, select uninstall, check the uninstall driver box, restart the PC and let Windows 10 reinstall the device.

I have a dc7800 running W10 Pro x64 (latest build) and the Intel ethernet adapter reports working properly.

I connect via USB wifi adapter, so I have never tested the ethernet connection.

I have previously tried the solution you proposed now, but not working unfortunately. It says that the latest driver is installed, but still nothing...

So i guess i will just proceed with the USB adapter solution.

Since we are talking, allow me to mention another issue i face, with my

HP Pavilion dv7-2070ea Entertainment Notebook PC

Base System Device drivers missing. Any chance to send me the driver package for that?

Thanks a lot for all your assistance Paul! Really appreciate it!

You're very welcome.

Sorry that you aren't able to get the ethernet adapter to install.  It's gotta be some kind of driver issue.

Did you try automatically or manually installing the latest W7 driver directly from Intel?

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/18713/Intel-Network-Adapter-Driver-for-Windows-7-?product=...

Your dv7-2070ea: you need this driver for W7, 8, 8.1 or W10...

This package contains the JMicron Card Reader driver for the supported notebook/laptop models and operating systems.

Yes, i have tried  installing the latest W7 driver directly from Intel. But it was saying that it's incompatible with my OS.

Anyway, thanks a lot again for all your help!
