Hello,
we bought our daughter a new PC:
HP Pavilion TG01-2200 ng
in Germany
https://support.hp.com/at-de/document/c07676338
(sie doesn't play, the PC is more of a "multimedia device".
Her lecturer at the art academy said she should upgrade this PC:
"more "power".
Expansion slots of the PC:
2 M.2; 1 PCIe x16; 1 PCIe x1
What kind of hard drive would the PC fit / what would you recommend?
- an internal SSD or HDD hard drive,
respectively.
an internal solid-state drive or internal solid-state module?
- Capacity of one or even three terabytes?
- How would we install and set up this hardware?
> Easy as pie or should a professional does the work?
We would appreciate an answer to these questions.

One year for an external hard drive is bad luck.
I doubt that it is a problem of type of use, I have one which is more than ten years old!
if you need more storage space, the external disk remains the most practical to use, but I recommend using several smaller ones rather than a single big one, less risk in case of failure
the computer will be used normally, with software installation, but all that is photos, video, should be placed on the external HDD, so as not to take up space on the M2 SSD of 512gb
Otherwise, being very careful you should be able to install another sata SSD or HDD internally

Hello
forgive me, but I don't understand this person!
What does he mean exactly, and why?
"more" power "
Ok, but still?
You indicate, that this computer, is just for multimedia, in what would it need more power?
The configuration is already good enough for this
you already have according to the technical sheet
16 GB DDR4-2933 MHz RAM (1 x 16 GB) ✔️
512 GB PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 SSD ✔️
Intel® Core™ i5-11400F (2,6 GHz Basisfrequenz, bis zu 4,4 GHz max. Turbo-Frequenz, 12 MB L3-Cache, 6 Cores) ✔️
NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1650 SUPER™ (4 GB GDDR6 dediziert) ✔️
This should be more than enough
if you need more space to store data, videos, music
just use an external usb hard drive
The computer is under warranty, it is better to avoid disassembling it

Hello,
thank you for your answer and for taking the trouble to read and respond to my post!
Our daughter will study graphic design and
will need this PC for digital image processing + video editing etc. using Adobe Photoshop & Luminar AI & Co.
Not only for studying, also for hobbies and instagram (she has 10k followers).
Her picture collection is extremely large.
She also composes on the side; her music programs also take up a lot of space.
Her lecturer said that a second internal hard drive would be ideal for your work, possibly a 1-2 TB HDD hard drive.
We had an external hard drive, but it only worked for a little over a year
because our daughter used it as a computer storage device > maybe too much for that?
Your second point about the guarantee made me think. You are right about that. Thanks for this advice.

Hello dear "Prométhée",
thank you very much for your answer and these valuable tips!
We were just about to look for external hard drives of 1-2 TB.
When I think about what you are writing, I am now convinced that we would rather buy external hard drives with smaller capacities.
My own external hard drive (250 GB) is also over 10 years old and still works very well - use it as a storage medium for my photos and video.
I didn't think I'd get such good help here!
Thank you again for all your tips, you convinced me to do the right thing!
