Microsoft Windows 11

Please help me, I have a prebuilt desktop pc from HP that I got from Amazon. I use this pc for gaming and school work, and I have upgraded from an old AMD graphics card to a newer GT 1030 low profile, I am wanting to upgrade again since it has been almost a year since I fitted it, but I’m having difficulties knowing what will fit because I have the standard small desktop case. I am wanting to upgrade to something much better like a 20 series RTX card. PLEASE let me know what I am able to do, I am open to other card suggestions. I will be mainly playing FORTNITE and MINECRAFT as well as MXBIKES. Please let me know what I can do!

@SlimScoobyDoo,

In order to be able to install/power any meaningful graphics card, you'll need more than the 180-watt (p/n: L29203-001 - please verify) power supply your HP ProDesk 600 G4 SFF is fitted with. The proprietary design and diminutive size of your power supply:

Is likely the reason why there are no known power supply upgrade(s) available:

The only way to power a high(er)-end GPU, is to use an external secondary synced ATX power supply.  The way this works is that your stock power supply is connected to an externally parked ATX power supply plugged in with a 15-pin SATA power cable to an ATX PSU 24-Pin to SATA power supply adapter card, which provides a signal to power up the secondary ATX PSU whenever you turn your PC on. This is the method I used with various legacy upgrade projects, such as this one: Solved: Upgrading HP EliteDesk 800 G4 SFF - Page 2 - HP Support Community - 8523990.

Hope this was helpful.

@SlimScoobyDoo,

Welcome to our HP community forum!

Happy to assist you, but in order to do so, I'll need some additional information.

Please type in System Information in your Windows search bar, click on the System Information app, and look to the right of "System Model", "System SKU", and "BaseBoard Product", and provide this information.  Also, it would be helpful to know the part number/wattage of your power supply.

Kind Regards,
