HP Pavilion All-in-One PC 24-k0000a (7TC08AV)

I bought this PC in 2020 and have required a new mouse every few months as it stops working, it's not the batteries or drivers, the light is on but it simply doesn't work. HP keep sending me a new one but I can't contact anyone due to a bank holiday. Surely this isn't normal for a mouse to only last three-four months- I'd have never made this purchase if so as it's incredibly stressful as I have urgent CAD work to do for my business and no working mouse, yet again. Is there any way to fix it or is this a common issue with this device?
