I have spent quite a bit of time researching the motherboard, etc and for user applications and like was stated, little is out there most likely because computer  is so old.  I'll keep looking and searching to my ability and knowledge level.

I was hoping someone would pop up and say; they have the identical computer with such and such GPU and it Works!

Maybe as more read this such a reply or success path might still be coming.

Thanks

Sorry, I no longer have time to search I must quit the forum
I did some more research, and got results via google!
only, the pages, leading to the HP site, no longer exist, archived
or, links, which did not open anything (site in maintenance, or I do not know what of others)
Sorry I can do better right now

Have one last question: When you had the card in the x16 slot did the device manager recognized it?

Did Windows 7 detect something  but report "unknown" or something strange "standard display driver" ??

Did you try  installing  the 472.12 driver?

Possibly the card could be used as a CUDA co-processor even if it cannot be used with a monitor.  The NVIdia driver contains the CUDA stuff so I has to be installed and it wont install unless the device manager sees something.

II think you should get a better system as suggested by Promethee

Are there any names on the motherboard?   P6230y I as unable to find a match. Did you mean HP 6230 ?

If you run CPU_Z or hw info what is given for the name / manufacturer of the motherboard?

[EDIT]  MeshroomCL uses OpenCL which is supported by AMD and is a competitor to CUDA.  You may be able to get OpenCL running on your AMD graphics.  OpenCL can run on a CPU, not just a GPU but is much slower than the GPU

[EDIT-2]  I suspect your HD 4200 does not support OpenCL.  You can try this app "clinfo" which display information about the GPU and how much (or little) OpenCL support is available. Be sure to get latest AMD driver for the HD 4200.

The OpenCL version of Meshroom is here  If you HD 4200 does not support it then look through AMD boards manufactured before about 2013 for ones that do not have a UEFI bios and dont need a power cable.  Techpowerup had database of GPU that can be searched but I did not see OpenCL listed as a search option.

Again thanks! for the reply.

.. The device manager did not recognize the card...

.. windows did not detect anything....

.. did not install 472.12 driver as I did not know about it, but I did try to install the drivers from the Zotac instillation disk. It started the installation, but stopped when it says there was no graphics card found!

.. motherboard specs here   https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01925486

.. meshroom has a workaround if a Cuda card is not found, but it is complicated and I have not figured it out yet. That maybe the final fix if I cant get a card to work. Of course that process supposedly slows down the reconstruction even more.

..I'm not going to upgrade the PC, for everything else it works just fine. I am just looking to play with Photogammetry and then to look at 3d printer for classic car parts for restoration. That is what the goal is here. Just a hobby.

Thanks

I have already given the product page previously, with the model of the motherboard ..
If as you mentioned, the graphics card, is not recognized, that it does not appear in the device manager, no need to waste time trying to install a device driver
The card was supposed to be functional, do we agree?
Your power supply is 300w
according to zotak information
GT 630ZONE Edition
Recommended diet
300W
In theory, it should work, unless your model requires a more powerful PSU?
Open the bios,
reset the default bios settings, without graphics card
and see, (I'm not sure where, maybe bus options) if you have an option
PCI SERR Generation #
deactivate
Leave the other settings as default
shut down the computer, install the graphics card, try

The Zotac card is new from years ago and was never tried until now.

I had already followed the procedure recommended with regard to the bios setting with no success.

My next steps

..will be installing a 500 watt power supply then

..try the Zotac card again thinking maybe the card was not originally recognized because it needed more power. Doubtful this is the case.

..I have access to an older but new never used XFX Radeon AMD  Model  HD-677x -ZN (HD-6770) with 1GB.  Supposedly this card supports OpenCl which was pointed out can be used by Meshroom. Not sure about this either but worth a try.

Again I'm very fuzzy on what CUDA  or OpenCl is.  From what I gather GPUs that have this can help (support) the CPU memory in processing??

Most photogammety programs are written to use Nvidia cards with CUDA. Only a few from what is available can utilize OpenCl.

Will Provide an update in a few days.

Again apologizes for my ignorance. Just trying to optimize what I have to have some fun with photogammetry.

Thanks

"I had already followed the procedure recommended with regard to the bios setting with no success."

Do you mean you have that option?
PCI SERR Generation #

I don't remember exactly how I did it
This option is not always available, known, but I had done the test with a graphics card on an HP pc
And the card not working I had modified this, and that had allowed me to make it work
Only, I vaguely remember, that a first restart, had given nothing, I had ended up getting there, but I do not know exactly how, in any case, it is certain I had touched this well. option
Just in case, can you ask someone to try this graphics card?

Update

A 500 watt power supply has been installed.  Tried the Zotac card again, no luck.

So Installed an brand new but older AMD HD Radeon HD 6700 series card with 1GB of memory that supposedly supports OpenCL which some of the programs I want to use run.  The card installed successfully but had to search a bit to get an updated drive, as AMD does not support this old of a card.  Found the last driver on their legacy site.

So we will give this a go and thanks for the replies and support.

So there are many options
incompatibility of the graphics card, which is a possibility, but nothing certain
Where problem with your graphics card, try to find a way to have it tested, you can at least try to resell it!
