HP Pavilion 590-p0066
Microsoft Windows 11

I have an HP 590-p0066 (specs here: HP Pavilion 590-p0066 Desktop PC Product Specifications | HP® Customer Support).

I want to upgrade the original 310w PSU to allow for an upgraded GPU. I need help identifying an HP PSU (at least 550w, but pref 650w) that will fit in this HP form (slightly larger than SFX). Anyone out there know what part I should be trying to get? Or where I can look to identify it myself? Had no luck finding answers thus far online.

@cptbeefalo,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

Your HP Pavilion 590-p0066 (3LA87AA), according to: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-pavilion-desktop-pc-590-p0000i/37730885/model/21388051/docum..., is fitted with a Lincs motherboard (SSID: 843B).

There is a 500-watt power supply that is compatible with your motherboard with HP p/n: L05757-800, which can be purchased online -via eBay and other eCommerce sites.  To my knowledge, there are no other higher wattage, HP-proprietary power supplies available for your desktop.

If 500 watt is not sufficient for your needs, the best alternative power supply option for your desktop would be using a 24-pin ATX power supply adapter:

Which means using an additional synced (external) ATX power supply to power any graphics card you want, like I applied it to a number of HP desktop upgrade projects, such as an HP EliteDesk 800 G5 SFF: Solved: Upgrading HP EliteDesk 800 G5 SFF - HP Support Community - 8545942.

Hope this was helpful.
