My HP Pavilion 590-p0056 desktop PC has a 310W Power Supply Unit(PSU) and I want to upgrade the GPU to GTX 1060 which requires a minimum PSU of 400W. The existing 310W PSU part number is PCG007 and (HP Orderable Product BOM) is L03980-800.

Could someone please provide the correct part number or product item that could be used to upgrade the 310W PSU in my machine with a higher wattage. I figure 450W would be good but anything that would fit/work between 400-500W would be great.

Unfortunately, your PC uses a proprietary PSU.

There are none available above  the power of the one that is currently installed.

the same question was asked back in 2018 about a PC in the very same model series as yours. I almost hesitate to put the link here as it does contain somewhat conflicting information.

Take a look at the HP Parts listing for your model.

Sorry to chime in so late here but I wanted to ask for clarification. I have the same model to OP has and want to upgrade as well. Doesn’t HP have a 400w PSU for the small form factor Pavilions? Would this not work for what OP and I are looking to do? Warranty issues aside, it will fit and power our PCs without ill effect, correct? I understand HP doesn’t list the part as compatible based on the model but there are other similarly spec’d Machines that do use the 400w PSU.  I’m claiming partial ignorance on the subject as I am a beginner at computer modifications.

Thanks in advance for the info.
