Pavilion e9180t
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello.  Ethernet adapter will not start (code 10).  Tried unistalling, shutting down, and restarting the e9180t but that didn't solve the issue.   We had a lightning strike that blew out my netword switch and believe it damaged the ethernet card in this PC.  Assuming I need a new ethernet card, does the community have a suggestion on what to buy that would be a good choice for  this old e9180t?

Thanks

Hi:

Yes, the lightning strike most likely took out the ethernet adapter.

Take a look at your PC's motherboard and see if the small black PCIe x1 slot pictured on the lower left part of the motherboard is accessible.

If it is, you should be able to install a PCIe x1 gigabit ethernet adapter.  Something like this.

Otherwise you can purchase an external USB to RJ 45 ethernet adapter.  Since your PC does not have USB 3 ports, it probably will not achieve a 1 GB connection speed.
